Understand Harassment

Harassment is any behavior, whether physical, verbal, written, or otherwise, that is unwanted and unwelcome, and may offend, or humiliate, an individual. Harassment can be discrimination or abuse of various types. Often, harassment persists beyond the first incident and happens on multiple occasions.

Types of Harassment
Verbal Harassment

This is derogatory remarks, jokes, or slurs and can include belligerent or threatening words spoken to another.

Visual Harassment

This is an assault to the sense of sight. When an attacker exposes his or her private parts or repeatedly stares at another person's body parts in a way that is offensive or uncomfortable for that person.

Physical Harassment

This has to do with giving someone a massage around the neck or shoulders, hair without consent, or hugging, kissing, patting, touching or rubbing oneself sexually against another person.

What to do if you are being harassed physically

If an attacker advances at you and slaps your buttocks area;
Push the person’s hands away and asked to be left alone in a very loud voice to attract people’s attention.
If he comes closer to embrace you, raise your leg up and stamp his toe and push him away and,
Make a run for it.
