- About The Project
The REST (RESTforher) project started as a virtual safe space for women and girls.
With funds from Grand Challenges Canada, the project was piloted between January 2022 and March 2023 to provide information on SGBV, first responder psychological support and referral linkages for survivors to other services that will ensure their safety, justice and needs are met.
Our focus now is on spreading correct and culturally appropriate information on SGBV through our platform, not just for women and girls, but for EVERYONE, because SGBV is everyone’s business.
We desire that our services (awareness, information and education, counseling as well as appropriate referral) will in turn increase self-confidence and right awareness, strengthen relationship and defense skills in women and girls. We also link survivors of gender-based violence to services that will ensure their safety, justice and needs met. Our Virtual Safe place will transform attitudes, beliefs and norms that justify violence against women and stigmatize their survivors.
Our vision is a world where women and girls are safe from the threat, harm and limitations of gender-based violence.
